Poker Room Rules & Player Conduct Policy

To ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for everyone, the following rules and standards of conduct apply to all players and guests at PlayLive, Melbourne, located at 129 York Street, South Melbourne, Victoria.

By entering the premises, you agree to abide by these rules and help us maintain a respectful and enjoyable environment.

1. Respect the Game & Each Other

  • Treat all players, dealers, and staff with respect at all times.
  • Harassment, bullying, abusive language, or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Respect each player’s right to enjoy the game without interference or intimidation.

2. Know the PlayLive Poker Room Rules

  • All players are expected to familiarise themselves with the PlayLive Poker Room rules before playing.
  • These rules override personal interpretations of the game.
  • Management and Tournament Directors have the final authority on game procedures and rulings.
  • For all tournaments, TDA Rules apply. PlayLive tournaments follow the standards set by the Tournament Directors Association to ensure fair and consistent gameplay.

3. Language at the Tables

  • English only is permitted at the tables, whether or not cards are currently in play.
  • This ensures clear communication and fairness for all players.

4. Dress Code & Hygiene

  • Appropriate attire is required at all times.
  • Personal hygiene is expected; strong odours or uncleanliness may be addressed by staff.
  • Offensive clothing, including garments with inappropriate messaging or imagery, is prohibited.

5. Mobile Phone & Device Policy

  • Phones must not be used while you have live cards in front of you — even if it is not your turn to act.
  • You may use your phone only when you are not in a hand.
  • No recording or photography of other players is permitted at the tables.
  • No phone calls may be taken at the table; you must step away from the table to make or receive calls.
  • Failure to comply may result in warnings, penalties, or removal from the poker room.

6. Protect Your Cards

  • It is a player’s responsibility to protect their live cards at all times.
  • Cards cannot be shown or discussed with another player during a hand.
  • In the event of an ALL IN, all cards must be tabled.
  • This ensures the integrity and fairness of every hand.

7. Ready to Play

  • Players must be present and ready when it is their turn to act.
  • Prolonged delays or unnecessary stalling are disruptive and may incur penalties.
  • If absent from the table, standard tournament or cash game rules apply, including posting blinds or forfeiting hands.

8. Keep It Fair

  • Cheating, collusion, or any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the game is strictly prohibited.
  • Sharing information about hole cards or cooperating to gain an advantage is considered collusion and may result in immediate disqualification.
  • Players are expected to act ethically and maintain fair play standards.

9. Table Talk & Etiquette

  • Avoid excessive or inappropriate table talk, including coaching or negative commentary.
  • Slow rolling, angle shooting, or disruptive behaviour is not permitted.
  • Maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful atmosphere.

10. Hospitality Package & Policy

  • Total buy-ins displayed for tournaments may include the cost of the tournament buy-in (100% of this goes directly into the prize pool) and the optional Hospitality Package, which provides food, drinks, and amenities depending on the buy-in level.
  • If you prefer to participate without the Hospitality Package, please speak to registration directly.

11. Media & Photography

  • By entering these premises, you implicitly consent to photography and videography within the venue.
  • Names, images, video footage, and likeness may be used for PlayLive’s marketing purposes, including on the PlayLive website, social media profiles, or other digital channels.
  • If you wish to withdraw consent, please speak to a manager directly.

12. Management Discretion

  • Management and Tournament Directors reserve the right to warn, penalise, remove and/or ban any player for behaviour that violates these rules or disrupts the game.
  • Decisions made by Management and Tournament Directors are final.
  • Any disputes or concerns should be raised respectfully to Management and Tournament Directors for resolution.
